Pointing a Domain Name to StaticWeb.io Servers

CNAME Record Setup Guide

  1. Log in to your domain registrar’s control panel. This is the company where you bought your domain name from.
  2. Find the DNS settings for your domain name. The location of these settings may vary depending on your registrar, but they are usually found under a menu labeled “DNS,” “Name Servers,” “Zone File,” or something similar.
  3. Look for the option to create a new CNAME record. This is usually done by clicking on a button or link labeled “Add CNAME Record” or “Create CNAME Record.”
  4. Enter the following details for your new CNAME record:
    • Host or Name: Enter the subdomain that you want to point to StaticWeb servers. For example, if you want to point the subdomain “www” to StaticWeb, enter “www” in this field.
    • Points to or Value: Enter “x.staticwebsites.io” in this field. This is the hostname of the StaticWeb server you want to point to.
    • TTL (Time to Live): The TTL value determines how long the DNS resolver should cache the DNS lookup. We recommend setting it to 900.
  5. Save your changes. Once you’ve entered the details for your new CNAME record, save your changes. It may take up to 48 hours for the changes to propagate to all DNS servers.
